Consultation
Summary
The proposed development would provide the opportunity to maximise the recovery of building sand, while minimising environmental impacts. Tried and tested measures would be put in place to minimise any effects on the local community and the environment.
The site would be worked and restored in stages and progressively returned to agriculture at the existing levels using inert infill including new tree and hedge planting with a net biodiversity gain.
As part of any feedback we are keen to understand your overall views on the proposed quarry. Also, we’d like to know your specific views on the following:
- has the website helped your understanding?
- was the material of a suitable quality?
- are the restoration after uses appropriate?
Our public consultation closes on 29th July 2025
Your views are important to us, and we’d appreciate your feedback and comments.
We’d like to hear from you.
Alternatively, you can provide feedback and comments using the form shown here.
What happens next?
We will acknowledge your comments and seek to answer any points raised within a week.
Following the consultation, we will carefully consider all feedback before finalising our planning application for submission to West Berkshire Council, later this year.
The planning application will be submitted with an Environmental Statement, which will take into account all the likely significant effects and mitigation identified in the Environmental Impact Assessment.
The application will also include the Planning Statement and a Non-Technical Summary.
Once submitted, these documents can be inspected on West Berkshire Council’s planning website. The council will then carry out its own consultation on the application – and you will have further opportunities to comment.
